Exciting news from the recent Seamark board meeting at Nofima in Tromsø!
At the one third mark of the project, all work packages are on track, focusing on innovative technologies for seaweed cultivation and harvesting and co-extraction of a wide variety of algal compounds.
The primary outcome for Algaia is the faster co-extraction of greener alginates with fucoidan fractions. This achievement promises to reduce production time and costs, marking a significant leap forward in sustainable practices.
Both cultivation and process technologies have reached a semi-industrial scale and prototyping is already in place. Therefore, the Executive Board is already exploring the organization of a seminar in the coming year to engage with potential stakeholders and foster collaboration for the project’s success.
But before embarking on future endeavors, the focus is on the reporting period.
Stay tuned for more updates as the journey continues!
